Hi there...glad you are here. I am Colleen Williams, the designer behind "redmunk".
I have been an artist for most of my life, creating work in a variety of media and acquiring new skills along the way. Studying architecture, sewing, calligraphy, screenprinting, bookbinding, jewelry, painting and ceramics, my surface pattern designs often reveal a bit of this journey, as well as favorite cultural influences from my travels.
Professionally, I have built a business around my ceramic art and line of porcelain jewelry, known as "Local Texture". Both feature very colorful and patterned works in porcelain and stoneware. Over the years, my journal sketches have accumulated and over the past year, I have reaquainted myself with surface pattern design and my love of two-dimensional decoration and textiles, creating designs in gouache and digitally.

What is "redmunk"? Standing for the initials of three beloved chipmunks, I am reminded not to underestimate that which is often unseen. The name also serves to remind me that mighty giants can be born out of small beginnings.
Meet Rufus....he is the "r" in redmunk. The "e" stands for Evan and the "d" for Dino...hence, r.e.d. 'munk. I met these three and many more over the years I had lived and worked in the Beaver Mill, of North Adams, MA. I adore them...and they all turned out to be mothers!
